On first glance you may have thought you picked up a kids toy – a Lazer Doodle or another electronic toy. But no. This ain’t no ordinary toy – this is a ‘DreamTrooper’ – a Dreamcast portable! Yep, I’m talking about the Dreamcast – in my opinion one of the greatest games consoles made ( Jet Set Radio anyone???).
Called the DreamTrooper due to it resembling a Storm Trooper helmet, this SEGA Dreamcast portable is fully-functional, complete with an illuminated logo. Though cramming the system in a Lazer Doodle case was complicated – the GD-ROM drive had to be hacked apart, but in the end everything fit together beautifully and even included a 5000maH Ni-Mh rechargeable battery.
One slight worry is that there’s no GD-ROM drive cover, so be very careful not to send the disc flying when the gaming action gets intense!!!
The portable integrates a Sony PSOne 5 inch LCD screen, an InterAct Quantum Fighterpad controller, stereo speakers and a battery pack which allows for about 2.5 hours on a single charge.
